Research and Development Engineer

Parsons Xtreme Golf
June 2021 - December 2024

Designs, prototypes, and develops automated systems and devices for PXG’s production facilities and R&D team:

  • Engineered an automated electro-mechanical system for hand’s-free golf ball durability testing, increasing test efficiency by 50% and accuracy by 40%

    • Utilizes PLC-controlled sensors, counters, and pneumatic components to detect cracked balls and track shot cycles in real-time, eliminating need for manual intervention

  • Engineered an automated assembly machine with sensors and pneumatics to eliminate manual hammering adapters onto golf club shafts, reducing installation time by 50% and preventing risk of ergonomic injury

  • Innovated a golf club loft and lie measurement system, improving repeatability and measurement precision by 2X and reducing cost by 67%

    • Installed in all assembly cells across PXG’s 3 production facilities and all 25 store locations

  • Designed and managed the assembly of 500 Zero Torque Spotter devices, a putter demonstration tool used globally in PXG fittings to showcase the zero-torque technology of PXG’s Allan Putter (now PXG’s best-seller)

    • Iterated the design to reduce cost by 35% and met tight timelines to align with product launch

  • Collaborates with overseas and local suppliers to ensure on-time production, quality control, and cost efficiency for all project components

Writes data analytics programs and innovates testing equipment & procedures for PXG’s testing department:

  • Written numerous report-generating programs using Visual Basic that analyze full swing robot, putter robot, and player test data collected by ball and club head tracking radar systems

  • Engineered a nest fixturing system for PXG’s Center of Gravity and Moment of Inertia measurement machines, reducing measurement collection time by 30% and enabling compatibility with all club types and specifications

    • Works cross-functionally with legal team to confirm and compare measured values for IP purposes

  • Designed a putter pendulum arm that allows for isolated adjustment of each degree of freedom for maximum precision positioning for data capture

Innovates golf bag components and leads specialty projects for PXG’s soft goods department:

  • Integrated magnetic technology into PXG’s latest flagship golf bag foot design to prevent the leg separation from the bag when carried, Patent Pending: US20240374971

  • Innovated the leg struts and connective bracket on PXG’s latest flagship golf bags with a series of mechanical locks, preventing the legs from over-extension —a recurring issue with previous models

  • Created a specialty golf bag holder for PXG’s CEO and Founder Bob Parsons, Patent Granted: D1014123
